From Swift Coffee Sourcing:
“Emily’s Notes
When I sourced my first container of Ethiopian coffee, I was proud to turn to Betty and Mahder, with whom I’ve worked since 2019 or so. This washed-processed Yirgacheffe has that stunning lemon verbena, white florals, and dark honey quality that has defined coffees from this region for decades:
Farm & Producer Context
Cherries are aggregated from small plots in Dumerso and nearby Chito, coordinated by Hirut Birhanu and local suppliers—including pickers from the St George’s church community. Hand-selection and transparent trade underpin every step. Hirut (Betty) and Mahder are pillars of the Dumerso community and recently completed construction on a health clinic and a day care, handing the keys to community leaders in a ceremony crowned with dancing and widespread delight.
Outlook
Swift Coffee Sourcing is proud to lean into CEO Emily McIntyre’s six-year relationship with Hirut Berhanu and her partner and sister Mahder to celebrate their hard work and resilience in the face of constant challenges to produce beautiful coffees.”
